American Chestnut (Castanea dentata)

A legendary tree, American Chestnut, disease has removed it in tree form from American forests but it is still out there as a shrubby understory tree with great pollinator value. Flowers, when they occur, are still a native pollinator magnet. Provides larval food for around 125 species of butterflies and moths.
