Beach Plum (Prunus maritima)

There are some fruits you can’t get at the grocery but you can grow in your yard. You’ll need more than one to ensure proper pollination for growing fruit. Beyond the fruit, Beach Plums are excellent erosion-control that can grow in poor soil. If it is the fruit you are after, full sun is a must. According to a Growers Guide published by UMass Extension, “a wild beach plum may bloom profusely for one year but not the next. The reasons for this are not well understood.”
