Common Hackberry (Celtis occidentalis)

Hackberries are an adaptable tree suited to many soils as well as alkalinity, salt, compaction, drought, and flooding. They provide spring pollen for hummingbirds and butterflies as well fall berries for birds. The bark’s unique texture and corky projections make for attractive winter interest.
