Blazing Star (Liatris spictata)

A pollinator powerhouse that prefers medium, well drained soils but will tolerate moist soil as well as drought. This 2' to 4’ tall plant has purple booms in July through August. The flowers can be cut and enjoyed fresh or dried. The plant does not tolerate moist soil in the winter. A great plant for prairies, borders, and cottage gardens. Pair with Sneezeweed, New England Aster, Joe-Pye Weed, Coneflower, Mountain Mint, Goldenrod.
