Fragrant Sumac is named for the citrusy fragrance released when you brush against the leaves. The flowers appear in spring before the leaves and are a nectar source for butterflies. Birds are attracted to the red berries in winter. The leaves have red-orange-yellow fall color. It is fairly fast growing, will grow in difficult soils, and is drought and salt tolerant. Best when planted in groups. While generally 3 to 4 feet tall, it can grow to 7 feet. It will sucker and spread to 4 to 6 feet.
