Great Blue Lobelia (Lobelia siphilitica)

Sometimes called Blue Cardinal Flower, this is another fabulous pollinator, although it will not tolerate dry soil and prefers rich soils. It can thrive in damp areas such as rain gardens or a medium garden bed. Great Blue Lobelia has tall spikes of showy blue flowers from July to September. It naturalizes and will spread by seed. Grows 1 to 4 feet tall and may be divided easily. Deer generally leave it alone.
