Red Maples are fast growing and can live for more than 150 years. They support almost 300 species of caterpillars. They are very adaptable to most soil conditions; tolerant of clay, sand, and compaction. Maples have beautiful red leaves in the fall. The buds in winter, flowers in spring, and the leafstalks in summer are all a brilliant red! The fruit of the red maple, samaras, attracts a whole host of foraging birds.
