Southern Bush Honeysuckle (Diervilla sessilifolia)

“Hold that slope!” Another shrub in that “hardworking but beautiful” category (like silky dogwood) except this one likes both moist and dry, shade to sun, without breaking a sweat.

Pollinators love it and it requires no primping or coddling. One of those shrubs that looks great, even under pressure of climate change. And no this is NOT the invasive honeysuckle...it is our native shrub that is right where it should be, in your garden. This is one of our favorite natives that provides flowers in the spring and color in the fall. It holds the soil, feeds the bees, and provides the visual wow factor that we humans like too!
