Wild Geranium is a clump-forming, woodland perennial that blooms from April to May. It has attractive, deeply cut, semi-evergreen foliage and pale pink to lilac flowers on 1’ to 2’ stems. It is easy to grow and will naturalize in good growing conditions. Foliage may yellow and decline if the soil dries out in summer, but cut it back a bit and it will spring back with rain or watering. “Cranesbill” refers to the shape of the seed pod, which resembles the beak of a crane. Mourning doves and quail eat the seeds. Bees enjoy the flowers. These are true geraniums; the “geranium” typically treated as a summer annual is actually a pelargonium.
