Sweet Fern (Comptonia peregrina)

Sweet fern is a small, aromatic, mound-shaped shrub that occurs naturally in dense colonies. It is not a true fern, but its leaves share a resemblance to fern fronds, hence the common name. The leaves are very aromatic when crushed. It is a host plant for the Gray Hairstreak Butterfly.
