Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua)

Sweetgum’s glossy-green leaves have five deep lobes, making a star shape. Fall foliage is mix of yellow, orange, red, and purple, and will become colorful even without cold temperatures. The fruit is a globular, horny, woody ball, 1 inch in diameter, which attracts birds. It is an attractive, long-lived tree and a host for Luna Moths.
