Turtlehead (Chelone glabra)

Turtlehead is a stiffly erect, robust, clump-forming perennial found in moist woods, swampy areas and along streams. The name stems from the distinctive turtlehead shape of its flowers. They are two-lipped, white with a tinge of pink and bloom from summer into autumn. Turtleheads can be used in shade, woodland, bog gardens, pond, wildflower or native plant gardens. Attracts bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
